Farewell ~ Early Flight
at 7:50 am

I had an early flight on Saturday and left the hotel at 5:00 a.m.  Will make a special note, be prepared to stay an extra day to enjoy wishing the others a good flight home.  I cannot say enough about the Best of Paris in 7 Day Tour.  Each day was filled with so much history and culture.  It takes you back in time and allows you to savor each moment.  Here's the hotel and some of the restaurants we patronized while in Paris.  I highly recommend them all.

As was once said “A walk about Paris will provide lessons in history,             beauty, and in the point of life.” Thomas Jefferson

A bakery and an angel

In 1862, Louis-Ernest Ladurée opened a bakery in the Madeleine, a neighborhood of luxury artisans. At a time when Paris was changing its face under the impetus of Baron Haussmann, it was reborn as a pastry shop after a fire. Jules Chéret, inspired poster artist and creator of the Angel Pâtissier, signed its decoration.

Angelina

120  year of history

The history of Maison Angelina dates back to the beginning of the 20th century.
At that time, the Austrian confectioner Anton Rumpelmayer arrived in the South of France where he opened several "Rumpelmayer" stores and became very famous.
Driven by his success, Rumpelmayer set out to conquer the French capital. In 1903, he and his son René founded a tea room called "Angelina" at 226 rue de Rivoli, in honor of his daughter-in-law, who was named Angelina.
